Hellenic Police participates in the ISFP research project «Tailored CBRNe protection measures for hotels and conference centres», with the acronym «Hothreat», with a duration of 24 months, aims to address the existing gap in the protection of hotels and conference facilities to terrorist threats using CBRNe (Chemical – Biological – Radiological – Nuclear – explosive) agents.
The consortium consists of a team of 19 European research and academic institutes, private sector companies related to HORECA services, as well as Law Enforcement Agencies, including Hellenic Police. The members of the consortium come from 8 EU member states; Greece, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Slovakia.
The main objective of HOTHREAT is to conduct comprehensive vulnerability and needs analysis of the end-users (hotels and conference centers) in regards to CBRNe threats and identify best practices to elaborate the tailor-made measures for CBRNe protection. The Law Enforcement Agencies will be responsible for supporting the consortium in the preparation of solutions and measures to be taken. The measures include recommendations for prevention, protection and response procedures and equipment, multiservice communication model, programmes for VIP visits, cleaning services, food defence, epidemiology enquire and CBRNe emergency application for mobile devices integrated with AR, and training materials for hotel employees. Involvement of end-users, series of piloting and large scale exercises will allow to elaborate high-quality and well-addressed solutions and ensure project sustainability.
With its participation in this action, Hellenic Police is expanding its existing experience in the field of protection of persons and infrastructures, by investigating and examining the possibility of implementing new best practices, methods, technologies and protocols of action.
