STATEMENT

The contents of the interview that the wanted Apostolos Vavilis gave in a Sunday newspaper, referring to myself are totally inaccurate and lack any kind of sobriety.

Never did I cooperate in any way or had any other relation whatsoever with this so-called “Gentleman”, neither when I was attached to the Narcotics Department nor ever after.

Besides, as everybody knows, since the beginning of February thorough information has been available on the activities of Vavilis and on his involvement with the Hellenic Police Force.

The carefully planned attack by the wanted Vavilis against me is not of any surprise to me, because in 2001 after receiving relative information, in my quality then as Head of Security in Attica, I immediately set off the procedure to investigate his presence in Jerusalem under the name Apostolos Focas (and not Apostolos Vavilis) and to shed light in him bearing an Identity Card with false information (Apostolos Focas), a case for which he has already been indicted and will stand trial himself as well as the other people involved in it; the case will be brought before Justice in April.

Besides all the other charges, Apostolos Vavilis hereafter will have to answer to the Hellenic Courts for his calumnies against myself.
