A wide scale meeting took place today (21-5-2007), at the Ministry of Public Order, under the chairmanship of the Chief of the Hellenic Police Lieutenant General Anastasios Dimoschakis, for the final inspection and confirmation of the Champions League security plan and its sections and on all its details.
The following high ranked officials attended the meeting:
The Deputy Chief of the Hellenic Police Lieutenant General Stylianos Syros, the Head of the Hellenic Police General Staff Lieutenant General Vassilios Tsiatouras, the Police Inspector General for Southern Greece, Lieutenant General Christos Drakopoulos, the Head of the Security & Order Branch Major General Stephanos Skotis, the Head of the Financial, Technical & Informatics Branch Major General Grigorios Anagnostou, the Head of the Organization & Human Resources Branch Major General Dimitrios Panopoulos, the General Police Commander of Attica Major General Ioannis Boutsikas, the Director of the Security Division Drossos Bougoudis as well as other police officials who wll be in charge of the police measures that will be taken for the UEFA football final.
The police measures will be put into effect gradually from tomorrow (22-5-2007), as provisioned by the security plan and will reach their peak on 23rd and 24th of May. The security plan includes the realization of measures in the urban area and in the athletic facility as well as at the entrance points nad at the points of arrival of foreign missions and of fans (airports, ports etc) . Great emphasis will be placed in the policing of the urban area with pedestrian and vehicle patrols and strong police presence.
During the meeting , the measure of double control of ticket authenticity, by special forgery detecting equipment , which was discussed at the meeting held today (21-5-2007) in OAKA , among representatives of UEFA, the Hellenic Football Federation and the General Police Directorate of Attica, was stressed again.
It is being noted that in case there will be found any forged tickets then the Court-Police procedure will follow.
For the implementation of security measures, all police personnel of the General Attica Police Directorate, as well as Police reinforcements from the Headquarters of the Hellenic Police and from its Central- Self Contained Police Services and from all Police Directorates of the country, will be in full deployment. All Police personnel of Attica will be in full alert from 16.00 pm of May 23rd 2007.
Moreover in the meeting it was emphasized that the Hellenic Police in cooperation with the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels tries hard to place, in all areas of residence (hotels) of tourists-visitors, TV screens so they can watch the game and thus to be avoided any fruitless movement of sports fans who do not owe a ticket.
Finally, it was confirmed once again the cooperation with all relevant Authorities as well as the operation of four operational centers in order to safeguard the security of the game.
