An extensive meeting under the chairmanship of the Chief of the Hellenic Police, Lieutenant General Anastasios Dimoschakis took place today (12-5-2007), at the Ministry of Public Order, for the security plan completion of the Champions League, that will be held in Athens on the 23rd of May 2007.
The following high ranked officials attended the meeting: the Deputy Chief of the Hellenic Police Lieutenant General Stylianos Syros, the Head of the Hellenic Police General Staff Lieutenant General Vassilios Tsiatouras, the Head of the Security & Order Branch Major General Stephanos Skotis, the Head of the Financial, Technical & Informatics Branch Major General Grigorios Anagnostou, General Police Commander of Attica Major General Ioannis Boutsikas, the Director of the Security Division Drossos Bougoudis and other police officials.
At first, evaluation and assessment of the security measures implemented during the Basketball FINAL FOUR (4th and 6th of May 2007) took place. Next, issues regarding the Champions League security plan were analyzed. Special emphasis was placed on matters such as:

The completion of the main security plan after the exploitation of the assessment results of the police measures that were implemented during the Basketball FINAL FOUR.

The management of information for the transfer of the sporting fans

Police controls in order to prevent transfer and arrival of people who do not have entrance ticket to the game. Thorough police controls for the prevention of bringing into the athletic premises prohibited items.

International police cooperation with police forces of other European countries and mainly of the United Kingdom and of Italy.

Cooperation of the Hellenic Police with the involved agencies.

Policing of the Attica region metropolitan area

Gradual implementation of the security measures in the main Olympic Stadium (OAKA)

Administration support of the police forces on duty
For the implementation of the police measures, the total of police personnel of the General Police Directorate of Attica as well as reinforcements that will come from the Hellenic Police Headquarters, from central-independent Services of the Headquarters and from the Police Directorates of the country.
The monitoring and the coordination of the forces will be realized by four (4) Operational Centers, which will operate at :

the main Olympic Stadium Olympic Athletic Center of Athens (OAKA), under the command of the Chief of the Hellenic Police, Lieutenant General Anastasios Dimoschakis.

the Indoor Gym (at the field), under the command of the Police Inspector General for Southern Greece, Lieutenant General Christos Drakopoulos and the competent officers.

the Operational Center of the General Police Directorate of Attica, that operated as the Olympic Security Center during the Olympic Games , under the command of the Deputy Chief of the Hellenic Police , Lieutenant General Stylianos Syros, the General Police Commander of Attica and his officials.

the Strategic Operational Center at the Hellenic Police Headquarters, under the command of the Lieutenant General Vassilios Tsiatouras and the officials of the Headquarters.
The Chief of the Hellenic Police will have the general supervision of the whole operation at a broad spectrum, regarding the police measures.
It should be noted that in the operational centers of the Olympic Athletic Center of Athens (OAKA) and of the General Police Directorate of Attica, representatives of all the competent agencies as well as representatives of the Prosecuting Authorities will be present.
A new meeting will take place within the next few days and at a date close to the day of the game
